  15. The BBS Utility package provides the following functions:
  16.  
  17.     - It contains an option for configuring the mach64 hardware
  18.     - It contains an option for testing the VGA, VESA and Accelerator
  19.       portion of the card
  20.     - It contains an option to install the ATI mach64 utilities
  21.  
  22. It is important to note that the BBS Utility package does not support
  23. mach64 driver installation.  For this reason we would recommend 
  24. retaining your existing mach64 diskettes for driver installation or 
  25. downloading the appropriate drivers from the ATI BBS, CompuServe forum 
  26. or FTP site.

  31. 2.0    Installation Notes
  32.

  34. 1. Ensure that you have a copy of PKUNZIP.EXE, v1.10 or later.  PKUNZIP 
  35. is available on most BBS and information services, including the ATI 
  36. BBS and CompuServe.

  38. 4. Unzip 64UTL201.ZIP into a new directory on your hard disk.  For 
  39. example:

  41. MD \ATIBBS
  42. PKUNZIP 64UTL201.ZIP \ATIBBS
  43. CD \ATIBBS
  44. INSTALL
  45.  
  46. 5. Follow the screen prompts for installing the Utilities and 
  47. configuring the card.

  51. 3.0    mach64 2.01 BBS Install options

  54. 1) System Information
  55.  
  56. Detailed system information will be presented, together with any found 
  57. system conflicts.
  58.  
  59. Contents of AUTOEXEC.BAT and CONFIG.SYS will be shown, and an option to 
  60. save to file or send to printer will be given.
  61.  
  62. It is recommended that this check is done first, prior to doing the
  63. 'Quick Setup'.
  64.

  66. 2) Quick Setup
  67.  
  68. Quick Setup will automatically initialize your card for the best 
  69. possible configuration. 
  70.   
  71. You do, however, have the choice of selecting the monitor type, from 
  72. the list of available monitors.  If the monitor you are currently using 
  73. is not in the monitor list, you may  want to use the Custom Monitor 
  74. option for best possible screen size and  position for each resolution 
  75. your monitor supports.

  77. 3) Adapter Utilities Installation.
  78.  
  79. This option allows you to install the Video Adapter Utilities onto the 
  80. hard drive.  The ATI utilities includes a DOS DPMS Terminate and Stay 
  81. Resident (TSR) and a VESA TSR program for VESA compliant applications. 
  82. For more information on either of these TSR please consult the 
  83. appropriate README file.

  85. Upon completion, you will be asked if you wish to set the path to the
  86. directory containing the utilities.

  89. 4) Diagnostics
  90.  
  91. You can test the functionality of your graphics adapter using this 
  92. option. The following diagnostics are performed to thoroughly test the 
  93. VGA and/or the Accelerator portion of your graphics adapter.

  96.   *  VGA Text test
  97.   *  VGA Standard graphics test
  98.   *  Accelerator Diagnostics

  101. 5) Advanced Setup
  102.  
  103. This is designed for experienced users who wish to custom-tailor their 
  104. card configuration for best possible performance. Changes will be saved 
  105. in a non-volatile memory or a file, depending on the mach64 
  106. configuration, and the card will be re-initialized.  Once saved, 
  107. settings will remain unchanged until altered.

  114. product line, it is not intended to correct outstanding issues.
